I Won £1m on the Lottery Twice — Odds Over 24 Trillion to One
I Won £1m on the Lottery Twice

Richard Davies, a hairdresser from Talgarth in mid-Wales, has achieved what many consider impossible: winning £1 million on the lottery not once, but twice. The odds of such an event are estimated at over 24 trillion to one.

The First Win

In June 2018, Davies was working at his hair salon when he decided to check his lottery ticket during a client's color treatment. He popped into a nearby shop, where the cashier scanned his ticket and realized the prize was too large to pay out. After some confusion, Davies learned he had won £1 million.

Initially, he did not touch the money. The first purchases included a house, cars, a field for his dogs, and a wedding. He also gave some to his four children and bought a minibus for the local rugby club.

Continuing to Play

Despite his win, Davies continued playing the lottery, switching to an app to avoid questions. He kept using his regular numbers based on his children's birthdays and birth weights, convinced they were lucky.

The Second Win

In November 2023, Davies checked his app and saw another message indicating he had won £1 million. He woke his wife, Faye, in disbelief. The same helpline operator who handled his first win took the call and was equally astonished.

After the second win, Davies gave more money to his children and bought a dream home. He now works as a delivery driver, having previously closed his salon in 2023 to renovate a camper van. He emphasizes that staying grounded and working has been beneficial for his mental health.

Davies still plays the lottery, saying, “You never know what may happen.”
