Netflix offers £501k to beat darts champ Luke Littler

Netflix is giving amateur darts players a chance to take on world champion Luke Littler for a £501,000 prize in a live event called Beat Luke Littler. The event, airing on October 30, is open to anyone aged 12 and over, with 20 hopefuls eventually selected to face the 19-year-old sensation.

How the competition works

In a promotional video, Littler said: 'Reckon you could beat me in a game of darts? Let’s go.' The £501,000 jackpot is a nod to the standard 501-point format used in darts, where players attempt to reach zero. Qualifying heats will be held in London and Manchester in September, with applications open at BeatLukeLittler.com.

Applicants will be asked about their darts experience, including how long they have been playing and why they believe they can overcome the world champion. Anyone under 18 attending an audition must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Littler's rise to stardom

Littler, often called the Lionel Messi of darts, was just 16 when he made the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship final. Since then, he has cemented his name as one of the best ever, winning the Premier League, the Grand Slam of Darts, and becoming the youngest-ever PDC world champion and world number one at age 17 in January 2025.

Recently, Littler retained his Betfred World Matchplay title over Gerwyn Price in Blackpool, averaging a record-breaking 111.53 in the final and an overall tournament average of 111.04, surpassing Phil Taylor's previous 106.31. He also smashed his own World Matchplay record for 180s, landing 66 maximums across the tournament, with 12 in the final alone.
