London Heathrow has been named the world's best airport for shopping in the 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards. The west London hub topped the list for retail services, beating major competitors including Singapore Changi, which ranked second, and Abu Dhabi, which came sixth.
Heathrow's Retail Credentials
Heathrow boasts an impressive 57,000 square metres of retail space, equivalent to approximately 10 football pitches, and houses more than 300 shops. Luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Burberry, and Harrods are among the offerings. A dedicated Toblerone store adds a unique touch for travellers seeking iconic souvenirs.
Award Methodology
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are based on surveys of travellers evaluating various aspects of airports, including baggage delivery times, cleanliness, and staff friendliness. More than 575 airports across 100 regions were assessed for the 2026 awards.
Beyond shopping, Heathrow also ranked 16th on Skytrax's list of the best airports in the world overall in 2026, a notable achievement given it was one of the busiest airports globally last year.
New Retail Addition
Starting in May, Heathrow will enhance its retail offerings with Waitrose meal deals, snack pots, and pastries through a collaboration with Relay in Terminal 2, giving passengers even more dining options.
