EA Sports FC 27 has released its first gameplay trailer, introducing a new social mode called The Grounds and a surprise appearance by fictional character Alex Hunter. The game launches on September 25, 2026, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with early access from September 18 for those purchasing the Ultimate or Ultimate Plus Edition.
New Gameplay Mode: The Grounds
The trailer highlights The Grounds, described as a 'social football playground' that expands the Clubs experience. It offers casual kickabouts and top-tier competition, allowing players to develop and customize their own avatar while receiving guidance from real footballers like Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, Paulo Dybala, and the returning Alex Hunter. Alex Hunter, the fictional protagonist from FIFA 17's story mode, has not appeared in an EA football game since FIFA 20.
Editions and Pricing
EA Sports FC 27 offers three editions: Standard (£69.99), Ultimate (£99.99), and the new Ultimate Plus Edition (£139.99). The Ultimate Plus Edition includes extra FC Points and Premium Passes, but is only available for pre-order from July 23 to August 31. After that date, only Standard and Ultimate editions will be available. Early access begins September 18 for Ultimate and Ultimate Plus purchasers.
Gameplay Improvements and Features
EA promises 'community driven' gameplay improvements, including dynamic corners, stronger attacking awareness, and rebalanced AI defending. The career transfer market has been rebuilt for greater realism, with player values influenced by club buying power, player potential, ratings, and form. A new Football Ultimate Team Gallery lets players curate a dream team of past and present players.
Cover Stars
Kylian Mbappé features on the standard edition cover, while the Ultimate Edition cover also includes Jude Bellingham. Bellingham, who previously appeared on FC 25 and FC 26 covers, said: 'Every time I’ve had the chance to be part of EA Sports FC, it’s been a special moment, and coming back for a third cover alongside Kylian is no different. I’m looking forward to fans getting stuck into FC 27, experiencing everything the game has to offer, and creating plenty of new memories along the way.'
