Chelsea reject Arsenal, Man Utd interest in Acheampong

Chelsea have made it clear that Josh Acheampong is not for sale, despite significant interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs. The 20-year-old defender, who came through the academy ranks, made his senior debut in May 2024 and has since become a regular in the first team.

Acheampong's Rising Influence

Acheampong made 30 appearances last season across all competitions, including 17 in the Premier League and five in the Champions League. He only turned 20 in May and has been capped up to Under-21 level for England, featuring six times for Lee Carsley's side.

The versatile defender can play at centre-back or on either side of defence, attracting attention from top clubs. Transfer expert Ben Jacobs, via the London is Blue podcast, revealed that Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have all shown interest.

No Bids Yet, But Interest Remains

According to Jacobs, no formal bids have been made at this stage, but the interested parties have 'looked to develop relationships on the player side' in case a move becomes possible. Chelsea have reportedly made it clear that any approach will be turned down, viewing Acheampong as a key part of their future.

While the defender has not yet nailed down a starting spot, the Blues see him as a long-term asset. However, much of the club's immediate future will be decided by incoming manager Xabi Alonso, who is set to arrive in the coming days.

Alonso's Arrival and Squad Changes

The former Real Madrid boss will want to assess his squad before making decisions on who fits into his plans. Chelsea have already lost Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid this summer, leaving Jorrel Hato as the only natural left-back in the squad. Finding a replacement at left-back is expected to be a priority.
