Brooklyn Beckham's World Cup Ad Sparks Family Feud Controversy

Brooklyn Beckham has stirred controversy with his latest World Cup advert for DoorDash, which many perceive as a direct jab at his family, despite facing backlash for seemingly mocking the ongoing family rift.

The Advert That Sparked Outrage

In the promotional clip for the food delivery service, the 27-year-old is seen smirking as he says: “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home… It’s a long story.” The full version adds: “It’s not like I don’t have tickets,” before dismissing the situation with a shrug, alluding to his estrangement from his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, for over a year.

A DoorDash delivery person then hands Brooklyn a bag, but instead of taking his food, he places his tickets inside and returns it, saying: “These can go to someone… else,” while side-eyeing the camera with a grin. He instructs the deliveryman to hide the tickets “somewhere fun,” hinting that fans might find them.

Hidden Nods to Family Drama

Eagle-eyed viewers noticed several subtle references to his family life in the background. A silver watch, believed to be the Patek Philippe Nautilus gifted by his father, sits on a table, alongside a stack of unopened letters—a conspicuous detail given that Brooklyn’s younger sister, Harper, was recently seen outside his LA home trying to deliver a letter. A snow globe also appears, possibly referencing Victoria’s extensive collection featured in her Netflix documentary.

The original teaser left the Beckham family “stunned,” according to a source. “No one could have predicted he would do something like this. Monetising this situation will be heartbreaking for David and Victoria, especially after his dig at ‘Brand Beckham’ in his statement. Brooklyn has called for peace and privacy, and this feels like the complete opposite by joking about their family fallout in front of the world.”

Public Reaction: Mixed but Mostly Negative

Fans largely condemned the advert as “embarrassing.” On Instagram, Calli Lewis wrote: “Embarrassing, I thought he wanted to step away from his family but he’s cashing in on them still. Very sad for his family, I hope he finds his way back.” Marissa called it “a giant PR miss,” while DebMoly advised: “Read the room lad.” Mary questioned: “It’s a hateful jab toward his family, how can anyone be kind about this?” On X, Palmer branded him a “nasty little weed,” adding: “All these advert digs at his parents during the world cup… Your parents have achieved more than u ever have .. and ever will!! Grow up.”

However, some supported Brooklyn’s right to use humour. One fan commented: “So many haters here. I think it’s snarky and fun. Brooklyn has been through a lot and it’s great to see he has a sense of humor.”

Family Fallout Continues

The feud remains a sensitive topic for the Beckhams. Sir David shut down a question about his family life in a recent Variety interview, stating: “To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about.” Brooklyn skipped his father’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony and reportedly missed an attempted reunion with Harper at his home.

In January, he made it clear he had no interest in reconciliation, with sources claiming the intended meeting with Harper was “choreographed.”
