A significant fire broke out at a warehouse in North West London late Thursday night, prompting the evacuation of approximately 70 residents from nearby homes as firefighters worked to bring the blaze under control.
Fire Details
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received around 80 calls at 9:15 pm on Thursday, June 11, reporting a fire on Oxgate Lane in Brent. Upon arrival, crews discovered a multi-use warehouse building within a business park engulfed in flames. The fire was finally brought under control at approximately 5 am on Friday, June 12.
At the height of the incident, the majority of the structure and its roof were alight, with videos on social media showing the fire visible from miles away. As a precautionary measure, 70 people were evacuated from neighboring residential blocks while firefighters battled the blaze. No injuries have been reported.
Firefighting Response
A total of 25 fire engines and around 150 firefighters were deployed to the scene. The LFB's X account stated: "The fire on Oxgate Lane, Brent, is now under control. Crews have worked hard overnight to contain the flames, and will continue through the morning to extinguish the remaining pockets of fire."
Four of the Brigade's turntable ladders were used to tackle the fire from height. Additionally, a High Volume pump and a Hose Layer were employed to increase the water supply for firefighting operations. Fire crews from Hendon, Willesden, West Hampstead, and surrounding fire stations responded to the incident.
Investigation
The cause of the fire is not yet known and is currently under investigation by the London Fire Brigade.
