A 28-year-old man has been arrested after a vandalism spree in Birmingham's Balsall Heath area, where more than 40 parked cars had their windscreens and windows smashed with a crowbar.
The incident occurred on Friday morning along Moseley Road, with reports coming in around 10am. Motorists were shocked to find their vehicles damaged, including windscreens, back windows, and side windows. Cars of various makes and models were targeted, some with large cracks and dents in the centre of the windscreen.
Social media footage captures rampage
Videos circulating on social media appeared to show a man swinging a crowbar over cars while a vehicle's horn sounded in alarm. One eyewitness estimated that over 40 cars had been damaged.
Police response and arrest
West Midlands Police responded to the scene and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of causing criminal damage. A crowbar was also recovered, leading to an additional arrest for possession of an offensive weapon.
In a statement, police said: 'We were called to reports of a man damaging numerous vehicles on Moseley Road, Birmingham, at around 10am this morning. Officers attended and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of causing criminal damage. A crowbar was also recovered, and he was further arrested for possession of an offensive weapon. We understand the concern with this incident.'
