32 Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants in London area close

Whitbread has announced the closure of all 106 Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurants across the UK, with 32 locations in and around London set to shut by September 10, 2026. The move puts 3,800 jobs at risk as part of a restructuring plan aimed at saving £250 million.

London closures

Three Beefeater restaurants in Greater London will close: The Fountain in Twickenham, London Woolwich, and The Traveller's Rest in Harrow. Additionally, one Brewers Fayre site, Winsor House at the Premier Inn London Beckton hotel, will shut. Many more are located in surrounding counties such as Kent, Surrey, Essex, and Hertfordshire.

Whitbread's announcement

In a letter to Beefeater rewards club members, Whitbread stated: "As you may have seen, we have recently announced changes to our business, which is resulting in the closure of our Branded Restaurants. This means that on Thursday 10 September 2026 your local Beefeater and all other UK Beefeaters will close."

Whitbread CEO Dominic Paul cited "significant cost increases" as the reason for the closures. The company said it would aim to redeploy "as many of our impacted colleagues as possible," according to The Sun.
