Tributes Paid to Young Hikers Found Dead in Snowdonia Mountains

Tributes have been paid to two young hikers, Jayden Long, 19, and Eddie Hill, 20, who were found dead in the Eryri mountain range, also known as Snowdonia, in Wales. The pair, described as best friends from Norfolk, were discovered on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) on Thursday after concerns for their welfare prompted an extensive police search in challenging winter conditions.

Families and Friends Mourn the Loss

In heartfelt social media posts, their families and friends expressed deep sorrow, emphasizing that Jayden and Eddie died "doing something they loved." Jayden's younger sister, Jodie Long, wrote about her "amazing, kind and caring big brother," stating, "He was doing something he loved and was taken from us too soon. Words cannot describe how loved he was by everyone."

Jayden's aunt, Stephanie Jolly, shared memories and photos, addressing him directly: "You were just figuring out life, following your dreams and doing something you loved with someone you loved. It isn't fair. Jayden, you were a wonderful and caring big brother, son, cousin, nephew, and grandson." She added her heartbreak over not being able to stand by him at his future wedding.

Remembering Eddie Hill

Harry Hill paid tribute to his sibling Eddie, describing him as a "big beautiful" and beloved older brother who passed away on Wednesday. "Words cannot describe the pain that I, my family, and friends are going through at the moment," Harry said. "He was taken from us far too soon and had such big plans for his future. He is the most beautiful boy inside and out and will be missed dearly."

Friends Share Their Grief

Many friends voiced their devastation on social media, with one close friend, Ben, writing, "You were and always will be my best friends, and I feel privileged to have spent so much of my life with you two. I would do anything to hold you both again, and it pains me that we won't grow old together like we always said we would." Another friend reflected on the tragedy, saying, "To think that at 19 I have to write about losing two uniquely brilliant but immensely similar people so early into our lives still doesn't feel real."

Police Statement and Search Efforts

North Wales Police issued a statement on Saturday, confirming the tragic discovery: "Tragically, the bodies of the two men were located and recovered as part of these co-ordinated search efforts. Both have now been formally identified, and their families have been informed." The search was initiated after concerns were raised on Wednesday, highlighting the risks of mountain hiking in winter conditions.

This incident underscores the importance of safety precautions in outdoor adventures, as communities come together to remember two young lives lost too soon.
