All Thameslink services between St Albans City and Bedford have been suspended after a person was struck by a train near Luton Airport on Wednesday, May 13. Emergency services are currently at the scene, and disruption is expected to continue until 5am.
Service Disruption Details
Thameslink has reported that trains may face cancellations, delays of up to 60 minutes, or alterations to their scheduled routes. Passengers are advised to check for updates and stay on board if their train is delayed between stations.
A spokesperson for Thameslink said: "It is with great sadness to report someone has been hit by a train between Luton and Bedford. All lines between these stations are now blocked until further notice."
Passenger Guidance
Passengers are urged not to leave trains unless instructed, as other trains may still be running and the tracks can be very dangerous. Affected passengers can use their Thameslink ticket on London Buses Night Bus routes between Elstree and Borehamwood, Central London, Croydon, and Purley at no additional charge. Tickets are also valid on London Northwestern Railway services between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston, as well as early-morning Thameslink and Great Northern services connecting Peterborough, Hitchin, Stevenage, and London Kings Cross.
The rail operator confirmed they are working alongside Network Rail and emergency services to handle the situation sensitively, swiftly, and safely.
