London Euston station will experience severe disruption on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 due to a strike by the Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) affecting London Northwestern Railway (LNR) services. Rail bosses have warned that some routes will have no service at all, while all others will be limited to one train per hour.
Reduced timetable and service changes
On Friday, no LNR services will run after 7pm, with the final trains departing at 5.30pm. On Saturday, services will start later at 7am. The reduced timetable affects key routes: Birmingham to Liverpool, London Euston to Crewe, Birmingham to London Euston via Northampton, Milton Keynes to London Euston, and Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey will each have one train per hour. No trains will run on other LNR routes, including services between Stafford and Crewe via Stoke-on-Trent and between Bedford and Bletchley. Some disruption is also expected on Sunday, July 12 as services return to normal.
Dispute continues
Neither LNR nor TSSA have reached an agreement since the previous walkout on Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23. Jonny Wiseman, LNR customer experience director, said: “We are disappointed TSSA has called further unnecessary strike action, which is set to cause significant disruption for our customers. We are working hard to reach a resolution to this dispute and urge TSSA to continue talks.” He added: “We are sorry for the inconvenience this will cause our customers, and we are doing everything we can to minimise the impact as much as possible. If the strike action does go ahead, we will be running a significantly reduced timetable on both dates. Customers are advised to check before they travel by visiting journey planners and our website.”
