Londoners and visitors face significant transport disruption this weekend as Transport for London and Network Rail carry out extensive maintenance work across the capital's network.
Weekend Transport Disruption Details
Multiple London Underground lines will be partially closed or stopping short of their usual destinations throughout Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November. The maintenance work will primarily affect passengers in North and West London, with stations in Hillingdon, Harrow, Ealing and Camden particularly impacted.
Holidaymakers travelling to Heathrow Airport should prepare for reduced services, while replacement bus services will operate in the worst-affected areas to help passengers complete their journeys.
London Underground Closures
The Metropolitan line will see no service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge throughout the weekend. Passengers are advised to use alternative Tube services or local bus routes to complete their journeys.
Similarly, the Piccadilly line will have no service between Acton Town and Uxbridge due to scheduled maintenance. TfL recommends using other Tube lines or replacement bus services as alternatives.
Overground and DLR Disruption
The Mildmay line on the London Overground faces significant disruption. There will be no service between Gospel Oak and Richmond or Shepherd's Bush throughout the weekend. Additionally, on Sunday evening, services between Camden Road and Stratford will cease after 10.15pm.
The Windrush line experiences closures on Sunday only, with no service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction. Replacement buses will operate between Canada Water and Clapham Junction to mitigate the disruption.
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will have no service between Canning Town and Stratford International throughout the weekend. Passengers are encouraged to use the Jubilee line as an alternative route.
Elizabeth Line Impact
The Elizabeth line faces major disruption with no service between Paddington and both Abbey Wood and Stratford throughout the weekend. Services to Heathrow Airport are also affected, with no trains running between Hayes & Harlington and the airport.
A reduced service will operate between Paddington and Maidenhead only. Passengers travelling to Heathrow are advised to use the Piccadilly line instead, though they should be aware of the partial closure affecting that route too.
Transport for London urges all passengers to check their routes before travelling this weekend and to allow extra time for their journeys. The maintenance work, while causing temporary disruption, forms part of essential upgrades to ensure the long-term reliability of London's transport network.
