Transport for London (TfL) has launched a series of consultations that could significantly alter bus services in south east London, with proposals including the withdrawal of one route, the extension of another, a Superloop diversion and faster journey times on a fourth route.
The changes affect routes used by passengers across the area, with some facing major network adjustments and others benefiting from priority measures and street improvements.
Route 415 withdrawal proposed
TfL is proposing to withdraw Route 415, which runs between Old Kent Road (Tesco) and Tulse Hill Station. The transport authority says passenger numbers have fallen since the pandemic.
If the withdrawal goes ahead, some passengers would lose direct journeys and may need to change buses, including for trips between Old Kent Road, Oval, Brixton and Tulse Hill. The consultation for this route closes on Sunday, November 15, 2026.
Route 333 extension and Superloop SL4 reroute
In a related move, TfL is proposing to extend Route 333, which currently runs between Tooting Broadway Station and Elephant & Castle, to Old Kent Road (Tesco). This would take over the section currently served by the 415, providing new direct links between Old Kent Road and Stockwell, Streatham and Tooting. The same consultation deadline applies.
Separately, the Superloop service SL4, which runs between Grove Park and Canary Wharf, could be rerouted through Wood Wharf at the Canary Wharf end. This forms part of TfL's Isle of Dogs bus restructure plans, with the consultation closing on Monday, November 16, 2026.
Route 37 journey time improvements
While no route change is planned for Route 37, which runs between Putney Heath and Peckham, TfL says the Wandsworth Town Centre improvement scheme could make westbound journeys through Wandsworth between two and four minutes faster in the morning peak.
The wider plans include bus lanes, bus stop improvements and changes to the road layout. The consultation for this scheme closes on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Passengers are encouraged to participate in the consultations, which will shape the future of these bus services in south east London.
