This past week, London experienced record-breaking heat, putting strain on the city's transport network. Many tube services struggled with the high temperatures, leading to delays and cancellations. Now, on May 30-31, planned service alterations and closures will cause further disruption on London's tubes and trains. The Piccadilly line will be shut—as it will be all summer—and significant changes will affect the Bakerloo line, DLR, and Overground.
London Travel Disruption and Tube Closures, May 30-31 2026
Whether you are heading to Mighty Hoopla in Brockwell Park, trying out new pizza spot Bar Etna, or simply enjoying the weather in one of London's many parks, there is plenty to do this weekend. Here is how to ensure transport disruption does not ruin your plans.
Piccadilly Line
On Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31, services in west London are majorly disrupted. There will be no trains between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge, and no services between Acton Town and Heathrow. Eastbound trains will not call at Barons Court until June 7. When travelling east, go one stop west to Hammersmith and then bounce back east.
Bakerloo Line
On Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31, there will be no trains between Queens Park and Harrow & Wealdstone.
District Line
As above, eastbound trains will not call at Barons Court until June. When travelling east, go one stop west to Hammersmith and bounce back east.
Lioness Line (Overground)
On Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31, there will be no service on the entire line.
DLR
On Saturday May 30, there will be no service between Prince Regent and Beckton. On Sunday May 31, no trains will run between Canning Town and Beckton, and there will be no service between Shadwell and Tower Gateway.
Waterloo and City Line
This line remains closed on weekends and bank holidays, but it is unclear how much longer this will continue.
Arsenal Premier League Trophy Parade
On Sunday May 31, Arsenal's men's team will celebrate their Premier League title win with a trophy parade in Islington, north London. Expect tube stations such as Highbury and Islington, Arsenal, Finsbury Park, and Holloway Road to be much busier than usual. For full details on the parade, check the official guide.
