Croydon Southern trains disrupted this weekend - key info

Croydon train passengers face a weekend of Southern service changes as engineering work leaves London Victoria without any trains on Sunday (October 18). Services between Victoria and East Croydon will run less frequently on Saturday (October 17), before trains across the Southern network switch to an amended timetable on Sunday.

Replacement buses will run between Clapham Junction and East Croydon, stopping at stations including Selhurst and West Croydon. The disruption is part of planned engineering work affecting the Southern network, according to the report by Ezekiel Bertrand.

Saturday service reductions

On Saturday (October 17), trains between London Victoria and Clapham Junction and East Croydon will run a reduced service. There will be no trains between London Victoria and London Bridge. Trains from Battersea Park to Victoria will also not run, with passengers advised to travel via Clapham Junction instead.

Those travelling to Battersea Park should go to Victoria and catch the next train back. Services between Victoria and Littlehampton, Eastbourne and Ore will instead run between London Bridge and those destinations. Trains between Victoria and Reigate will run between Redhill and Reigate only.

Passengers travelling between London stations and Redhill are advised to use Southern or Thameslink services. Paper tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on the London Underground Jubilee line between London Bridge and Canada Water, and London Overground services between Canada Water and Crystal Palace.

Sunday closure of London Victoria

On Sunday (October 18), no trains will run to or from London Victoria throughout the day, affecting Southern services across Croydon and the wider network. Trains that usually run to and from Victoria will instead be diverted to London Bridge, with an amended and reduced timetable and longer journey times.

There will be no trains between Victoria and London Bridge. Trains will also not call at stations between London Bridge and Norwood Junction via Sydenham. Replacement buses will run between Clapham Junction and East Croydon, calling at Wandsworth Common, Balham, Streatham Common, Norbury, Thornton Heath, Selhurst and West Croydon.

Advice for passengers

Passengers travelling through Croydon are advised to check their journeys before setting off, particularly on Sunday when the amended timetable will affect services across the Southern network. The changes are part of ongoing engineering work, and travellers should plan alternative routes or allow extra time for their journeys.
