The British Transport Police have issued a public appeal for information following a distressing sexual assault at a busy South London Underground station. Detectives are urgently seeking to identify a man captured on CCTV footage in connection with the incident, which occurred over a month ago.
Assault on Station Steps
The attack took place at Stockwell Tube station in the London Borough of Lambeth. According to police reports, a woman was targeted as she ascended the steps from the platform towards the escalators. The assault happened at approximately 8:50 PM on Friday, the 2nd of January.
Despite the passage of time, the perpetrator remains unidentified, prompting authorities to release images in hopes of generating new leads. A statement from the British Transport Police emphasised: "Detectives believe the man in the images may have information that could help their investigation."
Description of the Suspect
The CCTV footage shows a man of medium build with a shaved head. He was wearing a black t-shirt, black trousers, and a grey or white puffer-style jacket at the time of the incident.
Investigators are urging anyone who recognises the individual or has any relevant information to come forward immediately. Separate Incident at Euston Station
In a related development on London's transport network, police are also searching for a man who exposed himself to a woman at the ticket barriers of Euston station. This offence occurred shortly after 11 PM on December 20th, with the suspect entering the station accompanied by a group of friends.
