BTP seeks woman after racial abuse on Victoria line Tube

The British Transport Police (BTP) has released a CCTV image of a woman they wish to speak to after several passengers on a London Underground Victoria line train were subjected to a tirade of racial abuse.

Incident on the Victoria line

The incident occurred at around 10:30 p.m. on July 30 on a Victoria line service traveling between Victoria and Oxford Circus stations. According to BTP, a woman made a series of racist remarks directed at passengers on the train.

The woman left the train at Oxford Circus station and has not yet been identified or located. BTP is now appealing to the public for help in identifying her.

Description of the woman

The CCTV image shows a middle-aged White woman of average build with brown or ginger hair styled in a half-tied-up manner. She was wearing a black t-shirt, dark-colored trousers, and brown open-toed sandals. She also has a tattoo on her upper right arm and was carrying a colorful crossbody bag.

“Officers would like to speak to the woman pictured, as they believe she may have information that could help their investigation,” the force said in a statement.

How to provide information

Anyone who recognizes the woman is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 817 of 30 July. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

In a separate incident in London, police have also launched a CCTV appeal after a woman was upskirted at West Ham Tube station on July 24 during rush hour. A man reportedly pointed his phone up at a woman using the escalator.
