The families of two mothers killed in a devastating car crash on the A46 in Leicestershire have spoken of their profound grief and loss.
Details of the Tragic Collision
Neeru Patel and Bhamini Karsan, both 42 and from Leicester, died on Saturday morning after the BMW 5 Series they were travelling in left the citybound carriageway. The incident occurred between Thrussington and Sileby.
A third woman also lost her life in the single-vehicle collision, though her family has requested that she not be publicly named at this time. A fourth person in the car sustained minor injuries.
Pictures from the scene showed green fencing erected around the crash site, with a vehicle covered by a blue tarpaulin on the back of a recovery truck.
Families' Heartfelt Tributes
In a moving statement, the family of Neeru Patel described her as a woman whose life was "rooted in love, compassion, and quiet faith." They said she was devoted to her family and caring for others.
"Her gentle spirit and selfless kindness touched many within our world, often in ways unseen but deeply felt," the statement continued. "Though she is no longer with us, her love, her kindness, and her values live on through her two beautiful children and in the hearts of all who knew her."
The family of Bhamini Karsan remembered her as a "loving and devoted mother, wife, and daughter," known for her warm, bubbly personality and kindness.
"She was deeply loved by her family and cherished by friends and the wider community," they said. The family has now requested privacy and space to grieve during this extremely difficult time.
Police Investigation and Witness Appeal
Detective Constable Madeleine Hayes confirmed that the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. "This is a tragic incident with three people losing their lives," she said.
Police have established that the car was travelling on the A46 from Nottingham prior to the collision. DC Hayes issued a direct appeal to the public for information.
"I’d like to speak to anyone who was driving in the area who may have witnessed events leading up to the collision," she stated. "We are working to understand what led the car to leave the carriageway and any information from witnesses may be helpful in establishing this."
The appeal underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities to piece together the precise sequence of events that led to this fatal road traffic accident.
