Zubimendi: Declan Rice is Arsenal's Complete Player Driving Title Bid
Zubimendi hails 'complete player' Rice at Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi has heaped praise on his teammate Declan Rice, describing the England international as 'the complete player' whose influence is proving vital to the Gunners' Premier League title ambitions.

Midfield Partnership Flourishing

The Spanish midfielder, who joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad, revealed that the opportunity to play alongside Rice was a significant factor in his decision to move to North London. 'Once I came here one of the things that motivated me the most was playing with a player like Declan,' Zubimendi told Sky Sports.

Zubimendi's comments come as Arsenal prepare for a crucial Sunday clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Mikel Arteta's side positioned as clear favourites to end their 21-year wait for the Premier League title following an impressive start to the campaign.

Rice's Remarkable Development

The former Real Sociedad star observed that Rice has taken his game to another level this season. 'I think he's been a good player until this year, but I think this year, from what I see and how happy I see him, I think he's taking a leap forward,' Zubimendi explained.

He particularly highlighted Rice's comprehensive skill set: 'We all know how Declan is. A very complete player, physically, technically, set pieces.'

Leadership Qualities Impress

Beyond his technical abilities, Zubimendi expressed surprise at Rice's growing leadership role within the squad. 'And his personality is something that has surprised me. He wants to be a protagonist in the dressing room.'

The Spanish international emphasised how valuable this quality is for their midfield partnership: 'And on the pitch for a teammate like me in midfield, I think it's vital having someone who wants to be the protagonist who wants the ball, who helps you. It's the perfect complement.'

Arteta himself believes there is still more to come from Rice, despite the player's consistent performances over the past year. The Arsenal manager reflected on his evolution from a deeper defensive role at West Ham to his current advanced midfield position, suggesting this tactical shift has unlocked new dimensions in his game.

As Arsenal face Chelsea's formidable midfield duo of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo - with the three players costing a combined £300 million - the flourishing partnership between Rice and Zubimendi provides genuine optimism for Gunners fans dreaming of Premier League glory.
