Norway took the lead in the 34th minute through Erling Haaland, who slotted home from close range after a defensive error. France equalised just before half-time via Kylian Mbappé, who finished a swift counter-attack. However, Norway’s Martin Ødegaard scored the winner in the 72nd minute with a curling free-kick that beat Hugo Lloris. According to Norwegian coach Ståle Solbakken, “This is a dream result for us. Senegal edge past Iraq
In the other group match, Senegal’s Sadio Mané scored the only goal in the 58th minute, heading in a cross from Ismaila Sarr. Iraq pushed for an equaliser but were denied by Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, who made several key saves. The win puts Senegal top of their group with four points.
