Jonas Vingegaard celebrated his second victory in three days on Sunday, winning stage nine of the Giro d'Italia with a powerful solo move on the final climb. The Danish rider crossed the line at Corno alle Scale ahead of his rivals, while Afonso Eulálio held onto the overall leader's pink jersey.
Stage Nine Recap
The 184-kilometer stage from Cervia to Corno alle Scale featured a challenging summit finish. Vingegaard, riding for Visma-Lease a Bike, tracked race rival Felix Gall (Decathlon) when the Austrian attacked near the end. However, Vingegaard surged away in the closing kilometer, crossing the line alone. His Visma teammate Davide Piganzoli finished third.
Eulálio (Bahrain Victorious) put in another brave performance to limit his losses, finishing fifth, 41 seconds behind Vingegaard. This result allowed him to keep the pink jersey.
What's Next
After Monday's rest day, the riders will face a 42-kilometer individual time trial from Viareggio to Massa on Tuesday's stage 10. This could shake up the general classification.
