The World Snooker Championship was interrupted on Sunday when a protester ran onto the arena floor during the opening session of the final. The woman, later identified as Sasha Swan, an OnlyFans creator, attempted to carry out a stunt before security intervened.
Incident at the Crucible
The disruption occurred as Wu Yize was preparing to take a shot, leading 67-31 and 2-0 in frames. Referee Rob Spencer, a former police officer, quickly approached Swan before security staff escorted her out. Swan shouted, "nobody pay their TV licences," as she was removed.
After the incident, Swan revealed herself as the protester and claimed she was preparing to take her top off before being stopped. She stated, "Yeah it was me, I did streak the snooker with my team. I didn't manage to get them out because they kicked me out quickly." She also expressed disdain for the BBC and snooker, adding, "Who the f*** does pay their TV licence? Nobody pays their TV licence. I don't care. F*** the BBC, f*** the snooker, f*** everybody."
Connection to Ronnie O'Sullivan
Swan posted an old picture of herself with Ronnie O'Sullivan on social media, confirming she had met the snooker legend. She also teased her plan earlier, writing, "planning something fun tomorrow! make sure ur following my insta to see what it is."
Broadcast and Previous Disturbances
The BBC did not show Swan being escorted out, but commentator John Parrott apologized to viewers, saying, "Sorry for that minor disturbance, it's all sorted." This incident came just 24 hours after a crowd member was ejected for shouting "never forget the Epstein files" during Wu's semi-final match against Mark Allen. Referee Marcel Eckardt addressed the crowd, saying, "Can you get this person out please, now please."
Match Resumes
Action at the Crucible resumed on Monday with Wu holding a 10-7 advantage. Wu aims to emulate countryman Zhao Xintong and keep the world title in China.
