Shearer Slams 'Struggling' Man Utd Star Sesko After Spurs Draw
Shearer: Man Utd's Sesko 'had no clue' vs Spurs

Shearer's Scathing Analysis of Sesko's Performance

Former England striker Alan Shearer has delivered a brutal assessment of Benjamin Sesko's performance during Manchester United's 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, claiming the young forward appeared completely lost in crucial moments.

The Premier League legend didn't hold back in his criticism of the £74 million summer signing, who was brought off the bench in the second half but failed to make a positive impact.

A Costly Miss and Growing Concerns

Sesko squandered a golden opportunity to restore United's lead after being played through on goal. Instead of shooting early, he hesitated sufficiently for Spurs defender Mickey van de Ven to execute a perfectly timed last-ditch tackle.

This wasted chance proved particularly costly as Matthijs de Ligt had to rescue a point for United with a last-minute equaliser.

Shearer, analysing the game on BBC's Match of the Day, expressed his bewilderment at the 22-year-old's decision-making. 'He's only scored twice in his 12 appearances,' Shearer noted, highlighting the striker's poor return since his big-money move from RB Leipzig.

'Must Do Better' Verdict and Injury Blow

The Newcastle icon branded Sesko's display as 'must do better', though he acknowledged the player is clearly struggling with confidence.

'They worked it really well for him to get in,' Shearer explained. 'He's either got to get his shot away early or he's got to push that ball forward quicker. He's not going to get that amount of time in the Premier League.'

Shearer was most puzzled by Sesko's apparent lack of awareness. 'I don't think he has a clue what he wants to do because I don't even think he knows Van de Ven is there and chasing him.'

To compound a miserable evening for the Slovenian international, he suffered a knee injury in the closing stages, potentially sidelining him for upcoming matches.

Despite the harsh criticism, Shearer concluded with a note of concern for the player's wellbeing: 'No one likes to see him coming off injured and we hope his knee is okay.'
