Crystal Palace Keep Glasner After Outburst Over Guehi Sale
Palace stick with Glasner after board criticism

Crystal Palace have decided against dismissing manager Oliver Glasner before the end of the season, following his explosive criticism of the club's hierarchy.

Glasner's Furious Reaction to Guehi Sale

The Austrian boss, who confirmed last week he will depart Selhurst Park when his contract expires this summer, launched a scathing attack after his side's 2-1 defeat at Sunderland on Saturday, 17 January 2026. Glasner's fury was directed at the board over the timing of captain Marc Guehi's impending transfer to Manchester City.

Glasner revealed he was only informed of the deal at 10.30am on the day before the match, forcing a last-minute change of plans as Guehi was left out of the trip to the Stadium of Light. "We're selling our captain one day before a game," Glasner told the media. "All they said was everything was prepared, we had to change everything. Nobody told us."

Feeling of Abandonment

The manager expressed deep frustration, stating he had to inform the squad their captain would not be playing. He drew a parallel with the summer sale of Eberechi Eze, saying: "Your heart gets torn out twice in a season, one day before a game with Eze in the summer and Guehi now."

Glasner's comments highlighted a perceived lack of support, claiming the squad has been stretched thin. "It's tough to say why, but that's how it feels right now. We feel that we are being abandoned, no support, playing with 12/13 players for weeks now and the bench just kids," he said.

Parish Talks Lead to Season Continuation

Despite speculation that his outburst could lead to an immediate dismissal, chairman Steve Parish is understood to have held talks with Glasner in the aftermath. The outcome of those discussions is that the club will allow the manager to see out the remainder of his contract until the summer.

This decision means Glasner, who has had a successful tenure, will remain in charge for the final months of the Premier League campaign. The club has been approached for comment by Press Association Sport.
