Lizzy Rain: UK WWE Stars Will 'Take Over the World'

Londoner Lizzy Rain is making waves in WWE and promises that UK superstars will soon take over the world. The 28-year-old, whose uncle is the late Iron Maiden legend Clive Burr, recently debuted on the company's NXT show with a heavy metal-inspired style. Alongside her, fellow Brit Mason Rook has been turning heads, while stars like Blake Monroe and Kit Wilson already shine on the main roster.

Representing the UK on a Global Stage

Speaking exclusively to Metro, Lizzy said: 'To get to represent my home on such a global scale is really beautiful, and to do it with my friends like Mason Rook is so cool. Hopefully, with the UK tryout bringing more European talent, we can all work together and take over the world.'

Lizzy, formerly known as Rayne Leverkusen, has loved making memories on the UK independent scene. She finds it wild that fans in the UK stay up until the early hours to watch her matches. 'I can't believe this is our life,' she beamed. 'People are staying up till 1am just to watch us wrestle on Netflix. It's really overwhelming.'

Friendship and Support in WWE

Having Mason Rook by her side has been a blessing. Lizzy enjoys seeing him catch fire online, with stars like John Cena already praising him. 'It's so nice to have a friend here at the PC, and to see him go viral on socials is very cool,' she said. 'To see my friend do that is amazing!'

Lizzy still can't believe she's living her dream. 'It's like saying you want to be an astronaut, but you never think you'll do it. Saying I want to be a professional wrestler for WWE was always my goal, but I never thought it would happen,' she admitted. 'I wake up with a smile every day thinking, "Wow, I'm living the dream." I don't think that feeling will ever go away.'

The Call That Changed Everything

A couple of months ago, Lizzy was at a service station when she got the call from WWE scout Jim Smallman offering her a contract. 'I feel like my eyes are already tearing up,' she recalled. 'I'm quite emotional, and when I got that call, I just burst into tears in the middle of the services.'

She credits the Pretty Deadly duo, Elton Prince and Kit Wilson, for pointing her toward wrestling school years ago and supporting her move to the US. 'They know it's hard to move eight hours across the world, away from your family,' she said. 'It's nice to have people to lean on for help with wrestling, an apartment, or a car.'

Heavy Metal Persona and Family Legacy

Lizzy's heavy metal persona has quickly caught fans' attention. 'I've always loved this music, even before knowing Clive was my uncle,' she admitted. 'We grew up listening to Kiss, Alice Cooper, Metallica, and Black Sabbath. My brother was a huge influence. It's cool to have this legitimacy to my character.'

Each night, she wears her late uncle's leather jacket to the ring. 'To have that connection to something is really cool,' she smiled. 'It's an honour to wear that to the ring.'

Training with Legends and Dream Matches

At the Performance Centre in Orlando, Lizzy works closely with wrestling legend Jazz, who recently joined as a coach. 'She's a legend and an icon. Getting to talk to her and have her produce my matches is surreal,' Lizzy said. 'It gives me goosebumps seeing her demonstrate strikes. She's so supportive.'

Her ultimate goal is to reach Raw and SmackDown. After facing male stars on the indies, she has a dream opponent: 'If I could wrestle CM Punk, that would be my dream match,' she revealed. 'He's always been unapologetically himself—anti-authority, anti-establishment. That's how I see Lizzy Rain.'

She explained: 'He was never the top pick, not the tallest with massive muscles. That spoke to me as an outcast. CM Punk was my guy.'

Aspiring to Greatness

Lizzy hopes to emulate former NXT stars like Roxanne Perez and Trick Williams. 'It's cool to see their transition to WrestleMania after being at the PC with my colleagues,' she said. 'It puts into perspective that the system works. That could be us, no matter how long it takes.'

Netflix is now the home of WWE in the UK, featuring weekly episodes of Raw, NXT, and SmackDown. WWE will visit the UK this summer, with stops in Liverpool, Cardiff, Birmingham, Sheffield, and London. Tickets are available at wwe.com/events.
