Leeds United secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Burnley on Saturday, with captain Ethan Ampadu expressing the team's delight at finally overcoming their recent rivals. The win moves Leeds to 43 points, bolstering their chances of Premier League survival.
Ampadu on Revenge and Survival
Speaking after the match, Ampadu said: "Obviously we're delighted. For the last couple of years we've been unable to beat Burnley and we wanted to get a little bit of revenge. We also wanted to get to 43 points – we can't say it will be enough [to stay up] but we've put ourselves in a strong position."
Stach Highlights Team Spirit
Midfielder Anton Stach echoed the positive mood, stating: "The last three games are very important for us. We're in a good mood – look at this today with our fans – so hopefully we'll get the win in those games as well. The first half was very intense. In the second half we lost our structure at times but we defended well and it was a very deserved win."
The victory not only avenged previous defeats but also kept Leeds in contention for top-flight safety, with three matches remaining in the season.
