John Terry Hails 'Unbelievable' Chelsea Star After £300m Summer Spree
John Terry praises 'unbelievable' Chelsea summer signing

Chelsea icon John Terry has singled out one of the club's summer signings for exceptional praise, revealing the player has been 'unbelievable in training' according to first-team sources.

Chelsea's Promising Start Underpinned by New Signings

The Blues have enjoyed a promising beginning to the 2025-26 Premier League season, currently sitting third in the table and being tipped by some as potential title challengers to Arsenal and Manchester City. This follows a productive summer transfer window where the club invested almost £300 million on new talent.

Among the significant arrivals at Stamford Bridge were Joao Pedro, Jorrel Hato, Jamie Gittens, Estevao, Alejandro Garnacho, and Liam Delap, all brought in to strengthen manager Enzo Maresca's squad.

Terry's Unexpected Praise for Standout Performer

With Nicolas Jackson's departure to Bayern Munich, the goalscoring burden has fallen heavily on Joao Pedro, who joined from Brighton. The 24-year-old Brazilian has responded impressively, making an instant impact at the Club World Cup and scoring four goals in his first 11 league appearances, including in consecutive matches against Tottenham and Wolves before the international break.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Terry admitted Pedro wouldn't have been his first-choice striker target but has been thoroughly impressed. 'You look at Joao Pedro, he wouldn't have been top of my list, but he's been great so far,' the former captain revealed. 'He's had a really good start to his Chelsea career and I think a lot of strikers come in and don't get off to the start that he's got off to.'

Terry's praise extended beyond matchday performances, adding: 'I see him train and the boys tell me he's unbelievable in training as well. So I like the way he trains, his whole demeanour, and he's scoring goals, which I love.'

Garnacho Also Earns Special Mention

Following Chelsea's 3-0 victory over Wolves that extended their unbeaten run to four games across all competitions, Terry was quick to highlight another summer arrival. He described winger Alejandro Garnacho as 'absolutely petrifying as a defender' due to his exceptional pace and direct style of play.

'He gives us something the other wingers don't as well,' Terry noted. 'That's what you want to see as a Chelsea fan - players like that beating players. It doesn't always have to be with loads of skill. You can knock it past people when you're that quick and put crosses in the box.'

Chelsea now face a crucial period after the international break, with a league visit to Burnley followed by significant home fixtures against Barcelona in European competition and Arsenal in the Premier League.
