Jesse Lingard to Leave FC Seoul, Becomes Free Agent After K League Stint
Jesse Lingard becomes free agent after FC Seoul exit

Former West Ham United and Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is set to become a free agent once again after announcing his departure from South Korean side FC Seoul.

Lingard's Early Exit from Seoul

The 32-year-old confirmed via a social media statement that he will leave the club following his final match on 10th December 2025. This decision comes after what he described as 'positive discussions' with the club's officials, leading to a mutual agreement to end his contract early.

Lingard joined FC Seoul in February 2024 on a free transfer after his exit from Nottingham Forest, with his signing hailed as a landmark moment for the K League. During his time in South Korea, the attacking midfielder contributed 18 goals and 10 assists.

A Fond Farewell and Career Reflections

In his farewell message, Lingard expressed deep gratitude for his experience. "My time in South Korea has been unbelievable — the football, the atmosphere, and the passion around this club have been top-class," he wrote. He thanked the club, teammates, and staff for their trust and welcome.

The Englishman's career, however, is perhaps most famously highlighted by a spectacular short-term loan in the Premier League. During the 2020/21 season, Lingard joined West Ham United under manager David Moyes and enjoyed a phenomenal spell.

In that brief campaign, he scored nine goals and provided five assists, a run of form so impressive it earned him the Premier League Player of the Month and Premier League Goal of the Month awards for April.

What Next for the Free Agent?

Lingard has previously labelled his loan stint with the Hammers as a 'career highlight'. He said the club held a 'special place' in his heart, though a permanent return after the loan proved impossible to negotiate with Manchester United.

Now, as a free agent with 182 Premier League appearances to his name, the market for the experienced midfielder is open. His next move will be closely watched, with his proven ability to make an immediate impact remaining a valuable asset.
