Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has confirmed he has filmed his first ever two-hander scene with his wife and co-star Zoe Henry. The couple, who have been married since 2003 and have two children, Violet and Stan, have worked together on the ITV soap for 25 years but never shared a scene alone until now.
First two-hander scene after 25 years
In an interview with OK! Magazine, Hordley revealed: 'We did a scene the other day…we've been in this show for a long time, and we've always been in scenes together in the Woolpack, but we did our first two-hander the other day!' He described the scene as 'really emotional' and joked that his wife was 'upstaging' him, adding: 'She was doing a lot of really good acting!'
Hordley plays mechanic Cain Dingle, while Henry portrays vet Rhona Goskirk. Although Rhona is married to Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and often interacts with the Dingle family, she rarely has one-on-one scenes with Cain.
Possible connection to Monty the dog storyline
The emotional scene may be linked to the ongoing storyline involving the Dingle family dog, Monty. After being trapped in a shed fire started by Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn), Monty was taken to the vets where Rhona works. Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) later revealed that Monty has cancer, and the Dingles have opted for palliative care unless the dog is in too much pain. Given Rhona's role at the vets, she could have an emotional conversation with Cain about Monty's health.
Recent storylines for Rhona and Cain
Rhona has had a quiet few months following the deaths of drug dealers Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray Walters (Joe Absolom), who subjected her stepdaughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) to a traumatic ordeal involving drug dealing and sexual exploitation. Celia was killed by Ray earlier this year, and Ray was murdered by Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) shortly after.
Cain has endured a difficult first half of 2026. Amid the nightmare of Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) being wrongly accused of double murder and people trafficking, Cain was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent surgery but has been told the cancer has spread and will require radiotherapy.
