Hamburg Chief: No Chance Tottenham's Vuskovic Stays

Hamburg Director Delivers Blunt Update on Tottenham Loanee's Future

Hamburg director Claus Costa has delivered a definitive statement regarding the future of Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic, asserting there is 'no chance' the player will remain with the German club beyond this season. The 19-year-old centre-back is scheduled to return to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, where he will aim to secure a place in the Premier League squad.

Tottenham's Current Struggles and Vuskovic's Impressive Form

This update comes as Tottenham face a challenging period, battling to maintain their top-flight status. Following a 4-1 home defeat to rivals Arsenal over the weekend, Spurs find themselves in 16th place, just four points above the relegation zone. In contrast, Vuskovic has been flourishing in the Bundesliga, making 21 appearances and contributing four goals for Hamburg, who were promoted from Bundesliga.2 last year and have adapted well to the top division.

Costa explained the contractual situation clearly, stating via Sport1: "Contractually, there’s no chance he’ll stay. It’s purely a loan, and we have no way to tie Luka to HSV long-term." This confirms that the loan agreement is strictly temporary, with no option for a permanent transfer.

Vuskovic's Background and Development Path

Vuskovic, a Croatia international with two caps, is widely regarded as a promising talent with a bright future ahead. He began his career at Hadjuk Split's academy, progressing through various youth levels before making 11 first-team appearances. To further his development, he had previous loan spells at Radomiak Radom and Westerlo before Tottenham signed him in August 2025 and immediately loaned him to Hamburg for experience.

His performances this season have highlighted his potential, making him a standout player in the Bundesliga and a key asset for Hamburg's successful campaign.

What Lies Ahead for Tottenham and Caretaker Manager Igor Tudor

As Tottenham prepare for their next match, an away trip to Fulham on Sunday, caretaker boss Igor Tudor reflected on the team's recent struggles. After the heavy loss to Arsenal, Tudor emphasized the need for improvement, saying: "It’s nice to understand where we are, because you prepare in the best possible way then there is the game to show you reality. So it’s nice from one point of view so each of us understand and come, as I said the players, stay quiet, they come on Tuesday and restart after these three or four training sessions to start to work harder than we did until now, to change our habits, to change the state of mind which is now as a team. It is the only way to work."

With Vuskovic's return imminent, Tottenham will need to integrate him into a squad facing intense pressure to avoid relegation, while the young defender looks to make his mark in the Premier League.
