Conor Gallagher 'Not Satisfied' with Atletico Madrid Game-Time
Gallagher addresses Man Utd transfer links

Gallagher's Atletico Frustration

Former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the amount of game-time he is receiving at Atletico Madrid, sparking fresh speculation about a potential transfer to Manchester United.

The 25-year-old England international, who joined the Spanish club in the summer of 2024 for £33 million after being frozen out by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, has found himself frequently used as a substitute by manager Diego Simeone.

Manchester United's Interest

This admission comes amid confirmed interest from Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, who is looking to bolster his midfield options during the upcoming January transfer window.

It has been revealed that United considered a last-ditch move for Gallagher towards the end of the summer transfer window but were ultimately informed that the player would be staying in Madrid.

Despite making 50 appearances in his debut season, Gallagher has only started two of Atletico's 12 league games in the current campaign, a situation he is clearly unhappy with.

World Cup Ambitions and Future Goals

Gallagher's desire for more minutes is also driven by his international ambitions, with the World Cup on the horizon. Having featured for England at Euro 2024, his limited club involvement has seen him barely feature for the Three Lions since.

He confirmed he has spoken to England manager Thomas Tuchel, who outlined what is required for a national team return, a prospect Gallagher admits currently seems 'very difficult'.

However, the midfielder was also keen to stress his commitment to Atletico, stating he is 'very happy' at the club and his primary goal is to win titles with Atleti while earning a more prominent role in the team.

This public declaration of both frustration and contentment adds a complex layer to the ongoing transfer narrative as the January window approaches.
