Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) is currently facing the terrifying ordeal of being held hostage by a deeply disturbed and violent criminal in Emmerdale. Kylie, played by Pippa Fulton, has recently served an eight-year prison sentence and has an apparent liking for surgical scalpels.
However, this is not the first character Pippa has portrayed in Emmerdale. In fact, this isn't the actress's first scene with Michael Parr, who plays Ross Barton. The two shared a steamy night together back in 2014, before Pippa later appeared again as a customer at the Dales' premier wedding planning operation: Take A Vow.
She also appeared for a guest stint in Coronation Street, playing a part in Steve McDonald's (Simon Gregson) first foray into online dating, which turned out to be an epic disaster. Some fans might recognise Pippa from even further back. She originally ascended to fame by taking part in the BBC music competition show Fame Academy in 2002, which competed alongside ITV's Pop Idol, with both eventually giving way to the rise of The X Factor.
Who is Kylie in Emmerdale?
Kylie, above all, wants back her beloved 'Penny', a diamond that was stolen by the bonkers-but-loveable Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), Lewis's dad. As he defeated his own anxiety and headed to grab a taxi to the airport to join new boyfriend Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) on a spontaneous holiday, Lewis was grabbed and jostled into a waiting car. His brother Ross received a text informing him that Lewis is in serious danger. The text specifically mentions that Lewis's dad has possession of 'Penny', and Kylie wants it back.
She later reveals herself to Ross and declares 'Penny' as the most precious thing in the world to her, and should she not get her back, Lewis is as good as dead.
The hunt for Kev
As Ross begins the hunt for Lewis's adoptive father, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) is forced to reveal the truth: the dad referred to in the text message is more than likely Kev, with Liam and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) being the only people, aside from Kev himself, who know the truth.
With Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) currently being the only person who knows Kev's whereabouts, Liam implores her to share the knowledge to help ensure Lewis is returned safe and unharmed. She does, and Ross and Liam track him down to a van from which he's selling cakes. It isn't long though until Ross and Kev come to blows, with Liam determined to remain the cooler head.
As Ross desperately presses Kev for more information on 'Penny', Kev tells him that it's a diamond, one that he flogged to a pawn shop ages ago. Ross is firm in his demands: he better locate the diamond and buy it back. When Ross finally leaves, Kev reveals that 'Penny' is much closer than anybody knows; it's actually fastened around his neck on a necklace.
Tired of waiting, Kylie contacts Ross and informs him of her fondness for scalpels and her excitement at potentially using one on Lewis, while also getting in touch with Kev, where she demands the return of precious 'Penny' by the end of the day. Finding Kev again amid his rising panic, Ross grows increasingly frustrated as Kev trips over himself with his multiple stories over the location of Penny. Desperate to find his brother and put an end to the ordeal, Ross knocks Kev out, hoping to use him as an insurance policy before heading off to face off with crazy Kylie.
What's Kylie been up to in the meantime?
Just a spot of terrorising Lewis, who she gleefully reveals she'll gladly kill without a second thought.
