Sarah's life has been turned upside down in a series of events that began when she learned that her grandma Charity was raped by Dr Todd. The revelation came after Todd, who had previously bullied Sarah's husband Jacob Sugden (Joe-Warren Plant), discovered that the baby Leyla, supposedly the result of an implanted embryo belonging to Sarah and Jacob, was actually the product of a one-night stand between Charity and Ross Barton (Michael Parr).
Todd launched a vicious blackmail campaign against Charity, demanding cash to keep the secret.
