Emmerdale axes Noah Dingle actor Jack Downham after 17 years

Jack Downham, the 24-year-old actor who has portrayed Noah Dingle on Emmerdale for 17 years, has been axed from the ITV soap. His departure comes amid a wave of cast exits, with four other actors also set to leave the show.

Cast exodus continues

Earlier this year, it was reported that Olivia Bromley is leaving her role as Dawn Taylor. Alongside her and Downham, Bradley Johnson (Vinny Dingle) and Nick Miles (Jimmy King) are also saying goodbye to the Dales. The recent flashforward sequence confirmed that Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) will be murdered by a villager.

Noah's final storyline

Noah's final storyline will see him ponder his future. According to Metro, he will tell Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) that he is considering applying for jobs abroad. This career move would allow Noah to experience life beyond the village while leaving the door open for a potential return, as there is currently no indication the character will be killed off.

Dramatic history

Son to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), Noah has endured significant drama. In 2022, he was sentenced to three months in a juvenile detention centre for stalking and harassing ex-girlfriend Chloe Harris. Last year, Noah believed he was to blame for the tragic limo crash that killed Suzy Merton, Leyla Harding, and Amy Wyatt. It was later revealed that his brother Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was responsible. Joe drugged Noah and took him to a private hospital for a kidney transplant test, but Noah was not a match. Joe then dumped him at the side of the road, and in his disoriented state, Noah wandered in front of the limo driven by his mother.
