When he covered up the murder of his daughter Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) to protect his son Bobby, he deflected blame. When he accidentally caused Dennis Rickman's death, he denied involvement. Now, Ian faces another catastrophe of his own making, but he still won't take responsibility.
Hit-and-Run Disaster
On the night of Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Ross Marshall's (Alex Walkinshaw) wedding, Jordan Fox (Jahsaiah Williams) was the victim of a devastating hit-and-run. Ian was behind the wheel. After drinking, he drove his mother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) home, hitting what he thought was a traffic cone or animal. The truth dawned when Ian arrived home to flashing blue lights. Desperate to save himself, Ian claimed Kathy caused the accident by distracting him. But passing the buck won't work this time.
Jordan lies in hospital with life-changing injuries. His mother Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) is distraught, and Ian made things worse by approaching Jordan with a gift. Newly appointed Councillor Beale faces a lengthy prison sentence after failing a breathalyser test following the wedding. That drink might cost him everything.
Ian Fires His Lawyer
With Chelsea gunning for him, Ian turns to Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) for legal counsel. But in true Beale style, Ian's concern for his own skin leads him to lash out. Unimpressed with Johnny's efforts, Ian loses confidence and makes the worst move possible: he fires his brief. Raging at Johnny for lack of focus, Ian sacks him on the spot.
