Yellowstone Sequel Dutton Ranch Breaks Paramount Plus Record with 12.9M Viewers
Dutton Ranch Hits 12.9M Views, Biggest Paramount Plus Launch

Nearly 13 million people tuned in for the first two episodes of Dutton Ranch, the sequel to Yellowstone, which some Reddit users have called the 'most ridiculous TV show ever.' The series, created by Taylor Sheridan, originally ran for five seasons from 2018 to 2024, following the Dutton family and their cattle ranch. Despite criticism of its later seasons, the new spinoff has captured audiences.

Record-Breaking Viewership

According to Paramount Plus data reported by Variety, the first two episodes of Dutton Ranch reached 12.9 million views within seven days of release. This makes it the platform's biggest launch ever, surpassing Mobland, which had 8.8 million viewers. The show continues the story of Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip (Cole Hauser) after a wildfire destroys their Montana ranch, forcing them to buy a farmstead in southern Texas, where they clash with local criminals.

Fan and Critical Reception

Fans on Reddit have praised the new series. User Jalynt13 wrote, 'I got up at 1:45 am to watch. It was well worth it. It definitely has the Yellowstone vibe. It's like they took all the great scenes from Yellowstone in this show. Whereas Yellowstone was more about the land, I think this is more character-driven.' Another user, Prex10, added, 'My wife and I watched both episodes yesterday afternoon, and we were both blown away. We are both pretty disappointed with how Yellowstone turned out, as well as 1923.' Junior-Dust-6290 commented, 'With Yellowstone ending as it did, I wasn't expecting much from this. I'll be honest, though, it was pretty solid. Gave me the old feel I got when I started watching Yellowstone. Not perfect, but good and potential to get better.' Critics have also responded positively, giving the show an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
