Chris Brown and Usher's co-headlining North American tour has drawn renewed criticism after a video surfaced of Brown simulating a graphic sex act with an audience member during a Toronto show. The clip, shared widely on social media, shows the woman bent over while Brown thrusts behind her, fully clothed, as the crowd cheers.
Explicit Content Sparks Fan Outrage
The tour, running since late June, has been marked by controversial on-stage interactions, including a recurring segment where a woman is invited on stage to simulate a sexual act. This latest incident has prompted a wave of online backlash, with many calling the displays 'unnecessary' and 'disgusting.'
'Concerts are supposed to be about the music and performance, not for grown men to turn the stage into their bedroom. This is completely inappropriate and unnecessary,' wrote one user on X. Another added, 'Genuinely scared of anyone who willingly goes to this concert.'
Criticism has also targeted the artists' conduct beyond the stage. Brown pleaded guilty to affray last month following an alleged bottle attack in Mayfair in 2023 and could face up to three years in prison.
Lionel Richie Calls Out the Duo
The backlash isn't limited to fans. Lionel Richie, currently on his own tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, addressed the controversy during a concert. 'Usher and Chris Brown….see they try to do something new. The Commodores with Earth, Wind & Fire, we were doing that back 40 years ago. Only difference is between then and now we didn't go to jail,' Richie said.
Richie's comments, captured in a video posted on social media, highlight the ongoing scrutiny Brown faces over his legal troubles.
Legal Woes and Tour Continuation
Brown's sentencing hearing for the affray charges is scheduled for October 26. Bail conditions allow him to leave the UK as long as he returns the day before. He was arrested in 2025 upon returning to the UK for a tour and held for nearly a week before being released on a £5 million security fee.
Despite the controversy, the tour is set to continue until December, with no signs of the explicit content being toned down.
