Arsenal in talks to sign £34m winger Tzolis as Martinelli replacement
Arsenal begin talks for £34m winger Christos Tzolis

Arsenal have initiated talks to sign Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis, according to reports, as Mikel Arteta seeks to bolster his attacking options following last season's Premier League title triumph.

Arsenal target Christos Tzolis

The Gunners are preparing a move for the 24-year-old Greek international, who previously played in the Premier League with Norwich City. Tzolis has been impressive during his two-year stint at Club Brugge, scoring 43 goals in 108 appearances across all competitions.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal are now ‘exploring a deal’ to sign Tzolis this summer. Club Brugge, who were crowned Belgian champions three weeks ago, would reportedly accept a €40 million (£34.5m) bid for the winger. The move is not expected to affect Arsenal’s pursuit of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Last summer, Club Brugge rejected a €32m (£27.6m) bid from Crystal Palace, plus bonuses. Palace followed up in January with a €40m (£34.6m) offer, which was also turned down.

Tzolis named Belgian Player of the Season

Tzolis was crowned Belgian Pro League Player of the Season last month after scoring 22 goals and registering 29 assists across all competitions to help his club win the league title. He has made 33 appearances for Greece.

The winger was signed by Club Brugge in a €6m (£5m) deal from German side Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2024. When asked about his future last month, Tzolis said: ‘In the past, I always wanted to leave after one season. I had that feeling a bit last year too, but staying was the best choice I could make. I have everything here to be happy.’

Potential Martinelli replacement

Tzolis could be brought in as a potential replacement for Gabriel Martinelli, with reports claiming that Arsenal are open to offers for the Brazil international this summer.
