Amad Diallo has lifted the lid on the strained atmosphere at Manchester United under former manager Ruben Amorim, contrasting it with the positive environment fostered by interim boss Michael Carrick. The Ivory Coast winger, one of few bright spots during Amorim's ill-fated tenure, revealed that mistakes were heavily scrutinized under the Portuguese coach, creating tension within the squad.
Amad praises Carrick's impact
Speaking to Sky Sports, Amad highlighted the unity Carrick has instilled since taking over in January. 'I think the biggest change maybe is because the team is now more impactful. Like in the dressing room, we are really together. Every mistake is not a problem, your mistake is my mistake, so we are a team that doesn't care if you do a mistake, you go again.' The 23-year-old credited Carrick and his staff, including coach Travis Binnion, for bringing energy and togetherness to the squad.
Amorim's tenure a bleak period
Amorim was dismissed in January after a poor run of results, and his replacement has overseen a dramatic turnaround, with United securing Champions League football next season. While Amad stopped short of calling for Carrick's permanent appointment, he made clear the players are fully behind him. 'Everyone is happy to have him as manager. He has a good relationship with every player, and we will be happy if we have him next season.'
Mainoo echoes support
Kobbie Mainoo, who scored the winner against Liverpool, reinforced the sentiment. 'He's played a huge part. The confidence in not just me but all the players. You want to follow him and fight for him and die for him on the pitch. That's what we showed today.' United have little left to play for but can secure third place with a win at Sunderland on Saturday.
