England defender Trevoh Chalobah has been told he can leave Chelsea this summer, with Italian side Como making an official bid for the 26-year-old, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The centre-back, who earned a late call-up to England's World Cup squad after Tino Livramento's injury, made 47 appearances for Chelsea last season under managers Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior, scoring three Premier League goals.
Como and Inter Milan interested
Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, have qualified for the Champions League and submitted a bid for Chalobah. Serie A champions Inter Milan are also considering a move for the centre-back, who is expected to play in Europe's top competition next season. Chelsea, meanwhile, finished 10th in the Premier League and have no European football after appointing Xabi Alonso.
The exact value of Como's bid is unclear, as is Chelsea's valuation of Chalobah. The England international remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2028, with the club holding an option to extend by a further year.
Chelsea's defensive rebuild
Chelsea's willingness to let Chalobah leave comes as they pursue new centre-back signings. Crystal Palace's Maxence Lacroix and Como's Jacobo Ramon are on their shopping list. The Blues have already agreed a £51m move for Atalanta's Marco Palestra, and are also targeting a new left-back after Marc Cucurella's departure to Real Madrid, with Leeds' Gabriel Gudmundsson on their radar.
