Broadway star Josh Grisetti dies at 44

Broadway actor and television star Josh Grisetti has died at the age of 44, his co-worker and friend Rob McClure announced. The actor took his own life on Friday, and his loss has been described as 'cataclysmic' by those close to him.

'It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday. I'm not ready to even attempt to understand,' McClure said. Grisetti is survived by his wife, realtor Mackenzie Perpich Grisetti. 'Communities around the world will never be the same without him. We love you, Josh. Just a cataclysmic loss,' McClure added.

Career highlights

Grisetti starred as Nigel Bottom in the Broadway musical Something Rotten! in 2016. He is well-known for his eight-episode stint as Ralph Emerson in season five of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. He also appeared in The Knights of Prosperity alongside Sofia Vergara, Nurse Jackie and The Good Fight.

Tributes are already flowing in from former co-stars, fellow Broadway actors and friends. Rachel Zegler replied to McClure's post with a red heart. Ariana DeBose, who performed in Hamilton, West Side Story and other Broadway productions, wrote: 'My sincerest sympathies ? sending so much love and care to his nearest and dearest.' Tony Award winner Stephanie J. Block wrote: 'What a kind and beautiful soul. I am so, so sorry for this great loss.'

Early career

Grisetti began his career in 2008 as part of the cast of Enter Laughing. He first appeared on Broadway in 2011 in Camelot.
