Stevens Ties Lead; McIlroy Birdies, Scheffler Struggles

Sam Stevens birdied the par-5 5th hole, moving into a tie atop the leaderboard at 2-under with Ludvig Åberg. Åberg missed a birdie opportunity from 15 feet at the 3rd hole, his 12th of the day. Stevens, a three-time runner-up on the PGA Tour including twice last year, is still seeking his first win on either the top or second tier.

Meanwhile, a poorly timed story about Reitan saw him drop a shot at the 13th. Rory McIlroy, however, provided positive news with a wedge approach at the 3rd hole (his 12th) setting up a tap-in birdie, bringing him back to 1-under. McIlroy appeared calm and controlled throughout his round.

In contrast, Scottie Scheffler missed yet another green at the 10th hole. The World No. 1 is currently 3-over and struggling to maintain that score.
