Raducanu overcomes injury scare to reach Queen's Club semi-final

Emma Raducanu battled through a thigh injury to defeat Kamilla Rakhimova 6-3, 7-5 and reach her first Queen's Club semi-final, where she will face Iva Jovic later on Saturday.

The British No 1 was leading 6-3, 3-1 when she slipped on the slick grass, emerging from the fall wincing and clutching her left thigh. After a medical timeout, she returned with her thigh taped but lost three consecutive games to trail 3-4 in the second set. However, she regrouped to win the next four games and seal victory.

Raducanu said: "I think it's a mix of adrenaline, but it was tough to take that fall. I felt like I was in a pretty good spot in the match. On grass, these things happen. I found it pretty tough to regroup, but I'm really proud of how I did that with the help of the home crowd."

The injury raises questions for her semi-final against 18-year-old Iva Jovic, the sixth seed and world No 19.

Earlier, Katie Boulter lost 6-1, 6-3 to lucky loser Donna Vekic in her semi-final, lacking energy after a marathon Friday where she defeated world No 2 Elena Rybakina in three sets. Boulter struggled with her serve, landing just 47% of first serves in the opening set.

Despite the loss, Boulter will return to the top 60 after a strong start to the grass season.

Raducanu's win marks her fifth tour-level semi-final since her 2021 US Open title and her second at WTA 500 level or above.
