Flat Iron Steak Chain to Open First South London Restaurant in Clapham
Flat Iron Opens First South London Restaurant in Clapham

Affordable, high-quality steak chain Flat Iron is opening its first restaurant in south London. The chain’s 17th restaurant in the capital will open in Clapham later this year.

New Location in Clapham Old Town

Flat Iron has announced plans for its first ever restaurant in south London, located at 18-19 The Pavement, SW4 0HY. This new venue will feature 130 covers, including an outdoor terrace, making it easier for diners to secure a table. The Clapham branch joins Flat Iron’s 16 existing London restaurants in areas such as Soho, Spitalfields, Marylebone, Kings Cross, and Hammersmith. The most recent opening was in Piccadilly, and further expansions are planned for Newcastle, Birmingham, Liverpool, and Glasgow.

Local Connection

Flat Iron’s ‘Head of Beef’, Fred Smith, who is local to Clapham, expressed his excitement: ‘Opening a restaurant in Clapham, my home, will be special. I grew up in the area and witnessed firsthand the evolution of the high street. Many years ago, there was a butcher’s shop (Moens, now a few doors down) on this site that my family would visit regularly, so to be bringing the beef back has extra meaning.’
