Former X Factor Finalist Faces Attempted Murder Charges in London Court
Gabrielle Carrington, a 29-year-old former X Factor finalist, made a heart sign to her family and friends as she appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, charged with attempting to murder social media influencer Klaudia Zakrzewska. The incident allegedly occurred outside the Inca nightclub on Argyll Street in Soho at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, where Carrington is accused of ramming Zakrzewska with her Mercedes.
Details of the Alleged Attack and Court Proceedings
Prosecutor Rizwan Amin outlined the events, stating that Carrington arrived at the scene in her car and became involved in an altercation with a male individual. After security staff intervened, Carrington re-entered her vehicle, which then mounted the pavement, striking Zakrzewska and dragging her underneath the car. The vehicle also hit security guard Anoush Chyche and another woman, Latisha Armstrong, who suffered a fractured wrist.
Carrington, who has over 365,000 Instagram followers under the handle RIELLEUK and was part of the group Miss Dynamix on X Factor in 2013, has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, dangerous driving, and drink driving. She allegedly had 61 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath at the time of the incident.
Injuries and Legal Consequences
Zakrzewska remains in a life-threatening condition in hospital, while Chyche has sustained life-changing injuries. District Judge Nina Tempia remanded Carrington in custody until her next hearing at the Old Bailey on May 19. Carrington did not enter any pleas during the court appearance.
Family and friends of both Carrington and Zakrzewska attended the hearing, with Carrington making the heart gesture as she was led back to the cells.
