Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead inside a property in South London.

Emergency Services Called to Lismore Road

Officers from the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service paramedics were called to an address on Lismore Road in Croydon at 11.38pm on Monday, December 29. The call was made following reports expressing concern for the welfare of a woman in her 40s.

Despite the rapid response from emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that her death is currently being treated as unexpected.

Scene Sealed as Inquiries Continue

A significant police presence remains in the area, with a cordon established around the property to allow for a forensic examination. Images from the scene show multiple police vehicles and officers conducting door-to-door inquiries.

A police spokesperson confirmed that no arrests have been made at this early stage. They stated that inquiries are continuing at pace to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Next of Kin Informed and Post-Mortem Planned

The woman's next of kin have been informed of her death. They are currently being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

As part of the standard procedure for an unexpected death, a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course. The results will help investigators determine the cause of death.
