Two Men Face Court Over 2024 Hornsey Murder

Two men from North London have been formally charged with the murder of 24-year-old Jonah Ho-Shue, who died from a single stab wound in Hornsey in January 2024. The charges come after a lengthy investigation by the Metropolitan Police, which included a £20,000 reward for information.

Details of the Alleged Offence

Jonah Ho-Shue was fatally stabbed on Albert Road in Hornsey on the evening of Thursday, 4 January 2024. The incident occurred shortly before 11pm, leading to his tragic death. The victim, described by his family as a loving brother, son, cousin, uncle, and grandson, has left a community in mourning.

James Thompson, aged 24, of Sanday Drive in Barnet, and Dante Ashley, aged 25, of Ennis Road in Haringey, are the individuals now accused of the crime. Both were initially detained following the stabbing but were later released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Legal Proceedings and Additional Charges

The Crown Prosecution Service announced individual murder charges against Thompson and Ashley on Tuesday, 3 February. In addition to the murder charge, Dante Ashley faces a separate accusation of perverting the course of justice. The pair are scheduled to make their first appearance at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, marking a significant step in the judicial process.

This development follows over a year of police efforts, during which the Metropolitan Police appealed to the public for assistance, highlighting the severity of the case and the ongoing impact on the victim's family.

Family Tribute and Ongoing Appeal

In a heartfelt statement released after the incident, Jonah's family expressed their profound grief, stating, It’s hard for me and my family and his friends to talk about Jonah in the past tense. He should be here, we should be talking about him in the present. They emphasised the enduring pain of their loss and made a plea for anyone with information to come forward to help ease their suffering.

The family's appeal remains active, urging witnesses or those with knowledge of the event to contact the police via 101, quoting Operation Bardcole.
