A woman in her 50s was rushed to hospital last night after being shot in a residential area of east London.

Incident on Whalebone Lane

The Metropolitan Police were called to Whalebone Lane South in Chadwell Heath, Dagenham, at 19:14hrs on Friday, 2 January. Officers attended the scene following reports of a firearm discharge.

They discovered a woman, aged in her 50s, who had sustained an injury. A police spokesperson confirmed the wound was "consistent with an air rifle". She was taken to a nearby hospital for urgent assessment.

Arrests Made and Police Investigation

Following swift enquiries, officers arrested two men, aged 29 and 18, at an address close to the scene. They were detained on suspicion of possession of a firearm and intent to endanger life.

Medical professionals assessed the woman's injuries and confirmed they were neither life-changing nor life-threatening. She remains in hospital receiving treatment.
