Teen Rapist Jailed for 7 Years After Attacking Three Girls

A teenage sexual predator who raped three young girls in separate attacks has been sentenced to seven years in prison after a harrowing trial at Hull Crown Court. Kai Edwards, 18, manipulated or bullied each of his victims into having sex and then carried on when they explicitly told him to stop, leaving all three suffering from severe psychological harm.

Three Lives Shattered by Manipulation and Violence

Prosecutor David Godfrey detailed how Edwards met each of the girls, who did not know one another, through social media. The first victim described feeling pressured into sex, with Edwards dismissively telling her "you'll be fine" as he ignored her pleas to stop. She later contacted police, stating, "I went from being confident to not wanting to leave the house and becoming a very anxious person. I felt disgusted at the time."

A Pattern of Abuse and Denial

The second girl endured physical violence, including being slapped, punched, and kicked, alongside sexual abuse and rape. She revealed, "This impacted me so much I couldn't sleep at night. I still have flashbacks about it. He has absolutely ruined my life." The third victim was repeatedly pestered by Edwards, falling asleep only to wake up and find him raping her. She lamented, "My first sexual experience was being raped. I have never managed to get over what he did to me."

During the trial, Edwards not only forced the girls to relive their trauma in a courtroom full of strangers but also shamelessly accused them of conspiring against him. When asked if he raped the girls, he flatly denied it, claiming, "No, I did not." Even his own barrister acknowledged that Edwards had "shown no remorse" for his actions.

Justice Served with Lifelong Consequences

Edwards was found guilty of three counts of rape and one count of assault by penetration. In addition to his seven-year prison sentence, he will be placed on the sex offenders' register for life. Detective Constable Lisa Grantham praised the bravery of the victims, stating, "It is thanks to their courage and willingness to engage with the court proceedings that led him to be found guilty, and now serving jail time."

Grantham emphasized the seriousness with which police treat all reports of sexual offences, urging victims to come forward regardless of when the incidents occurred. "No matter your age or gender, or whether the offences took place yesterday or 30 years ago, we would encourage you to tell someone you trust and when you are ready, report it to the police," she said.

The case underscores the devastating impact of sexual violence, with each victim expressing profound emotional scars. As one victim poignantly stated, "I don't know if I will ever be the same person again." The sentencing sends a clear message about the consequences of such predatory behavior, while highlighting the ongoing need for support and justice for survivors.
